Welcome

Monkeys Galore at the Monkey House!

The Monkey House is a “one of a kind” vacation retreat with 2 air conditioned bedrooms, 2 baths and a unique luxury tree house feel. The house sleeps 4 and is perfect for 2 couples or a small family. The entire home is completely private with a tall security wall, floor to ceiling glass, and an alarm system which provide comfort, privacy, safety, and a sense of being suspended out over the rain forest. The Monkey House is located in a privileged position within the foraging routes of 3 species of monkeys. It’s the same lush, tropical setting where you’d expect Tarzan to swing by on a vine. It’s perfectly located in Manuel Antonio with a beautiful beach in a semi-private bay just a short 10-minute walk away and many nearby restaurants.
There are many vacation rentals in Manuel Antonio but there is only one Monkey House.

What sets it apart is its owners, a wildlife photographer and conservationist couple whose passion for primates led them to Costa Rica as naturally as a river seeks the sea. Many of their wildlife photos adorn their walls. They traveled to the remotest rain forests of Africa, Asia and Latin America, and worked with scientist such as gorilla expert Dr. Dian Fossey and orangutan authority Dr. Birute Galdikas. David produced a documentary, “Orangutans Grasping the Last Branch.” Evelyn is the author of the award-winning photo-illustrated book, Among the Orangutans. She was invited to speak at 500 schools worldwide where she inspired students with her “Follow Your Dream” theme and her captivating photos and stories about endangered primates.

These students were motivated to form pen pals partnerships with students in Uganda to help save their dwindling wildlife. Some students raised funds to hire anti-poaching patrols to protect mountain gorillas in Rwanda, others adopted orphaned orangutans in Borneo by recycling cans and used the proceeds to provide critical veterinary care.

Of all the countries they visited the owners adopted Costa Rica as their home. The Monkey House is as much a part of nature as the exotic flowers, plants and trees that envelope it in their cozy cocoon. Howler monkeys often sleep in a nearby tree. Red-backed squirrel and capuchin monkeys use the terrace as a playground.  Sloths and tempestquintles are a common sight. As for luxury, their personal Concierge Manager will assist with all of your requirements during your stay to ensure it is relaxing and stress free. Come be a part of the adventure. You’ll take home memories, photos and stories that will last forever. Book your reservation now.
