Evelyn & David first worked on the Orangutan Project at Camp Leakey with Dr. Birute Galdikas in Borneo in 1984 then returned twice more within 12 years. Along with helping research wild orangutans Dr. Galdikas was helping to rehabilitate former pet orangutans back to the wild. These orphaned orangutans roamed freely through camp. In this video Evelyn tells the behind-the-scenes story about why there’s a painted orangutan art tile niche in their bathroom at the Discovery Beach House vacation rental home.
